We proudly celebrate our country’s Grammy award winner

Western Cape Minister of Cultural Affairs and Sport, Anroux Marais, is proud to congratulate singer Tyla, who last night became the youngest African artist to win a Grammy award.

The singer was announced as the winner in the category Best African Music Performance for her song Water. This song became a TikTok sensation in 2023 and went on to appear in the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Minister Marais said, “The Western Cape Government wishes to congratulate Tyla on this amazing achievement. Once again, South Africa is making an impact on international stages, and this is testament to the talent that we have in our country. We are incredibly proud.” 

We are excited to see this young singer continue to do great things in the music industry.
