Metro Police Nab Drug Dealers

On Thursday evening, 22 April, the City of Cape Town's Metro Police conducted several integrated operations with the South African Police Services. Search warrants were executed at suspected drug dens and a total of twelve (12) suspects were arrested.

The Metro Police Dog Unit, together with the Tactical Response Unit, executed six (6) of these search warrants in Macassar. Two suspects were arrested for possession of narcotics, and another four were arrested for dealing in narcotics.

The Metro Police executed the other six (6) warrants in Bonteheuwel, Atlantis and Kraaifontein, where six suspects were arrested for possession of narcotics.

The following items were confiscated during the operation:

  • 210 dagga stoppe

  • 1 plastic bag half-filled with tik

  • 1 parcel dagga

  • 2 bank bags containing magic mushrooms

  • 3½ Mandrax tablets

  • 2¼ packets of crushed Mandrax

  • 23 x tik straws

Whilst on routine patrol, officers arrested one motorist in Atlantis for drunk driving.

"Our zero tolerance approach in the fight against drug abuse in the city is paying off. We are very pleased that communities are starting to come forward with information because they are also tired of the illegal activities they witness on a daily basis," said Metro Police Deputy Chief, Yolanda Faro.
