One of the purposes of the scheme is to encourage and assist South African companies to introduce their products to foreign markets by participating in recognised overseas exhibitions that are considered suitable for promoting South Africa's tourism trade. The scheme also assists emerging companies to participate in the Durban Indaba.

The priority overseas exhibitions that the scheme will sponsor are:

• ITB - Germany
• Indaba - Durban
• WTM - London.

• where the exhibition will be held
• sectors that will benefit from the exhibition
• scale of attraction
• frequency of the exhibition
• economic impact.

Interested businesses must apply to the Department of Environmental Affairs and Tourism to register with the scheme. Applications for registration will be evaluated to ensure that they meet the criteria and you will be informed on whether your application has been accepted or not. The application form for registration can be downloaded here or obtained on request from the Department of Environmental Affairs and Tourism and from the Western Cape Department of Economic Development and Tourism.

Once your business is accepted onto the scheme you must complete the Application for Financial Assistance for the Production and Distribution of International Tourism Marketing Materials form to submit claims for funding assistance.
