The destruction of our future due to trauma caused by domestic violence, as well as physical, emotional and sexual abuse is extremely unnecessary.
With the opening of the TygerBear Unit in 2000 many skeptics wondered if this small drop in the ocean would make a difference to the shocking statistics of child violence. Eight years later the success stories speak for themselves, no matter how small the donation of effort to help our children on the road to recovery.
The TygerBear Foundation will be launching the Pink & Blue Child Awareness Campaign on 12 August, and on this day we hope to spoil our children. The Private Sector as well as the Business sector can illustrate their support and involvement by wearing pink and blue this day, and by buying and wearing a special Pink & Blue sticker at R5 each.
The stickers can be obtained from Manette (082 994 4300), Anneke (084 673 0121), the TygerBear Foundation (021 938 4164) or by e-mailinginfo@ats-africa.co.za.
TygerBear, in collaboration with our media sponsor Kaap-Rapport, challenges companies, organizations and schools to buy these stickers and distribute them to colleagues, learners etc. Every cent collected through the selling of stickers is ploughed back into the TygerBear Foundation. We cannot allow the most vulnerable, little ones in our society to be deprived of the magic of childhood. Nobody should believe for one second that they cannot make a difference.
We are also launching a competition for the photograph most representative of the 'Pink & Blue Child Awareness Campaign', on 12 August. The winning photo will be featured in the Kaap Rapport and on the TygerBear website, as well as receive a true 'TygerBear' prize. Should companies go all-out on this occasion, Kaap-Rapport will send their own photographer to capture the day.
