This Draft White Paper on Green Procurement is one of the initiatives from the Department aimed at reducing the environmental impact of the Province's activities.The policy provides for general principles and guidelines for integrating environmental criteria into supply chain management decision making and advocates a phased-in approach through the issuing of practice notes for select product/service areas.Initially, six selected pilot areas will be considered, namely: paper and stationery, lighting equipment, electronic office equipment, events greening, cleaning products and services, as well as waste services.The Department of Environmental Affairs and Development Planning welcomes any comment or expression of concern from all interested parties on the proposals for the greening of procurement of goods and services.A consultation workshop with suppliers and other interested parties has been arranged and you are invited to attend.Date: 5 July 2011 Venue: Marine Research Institute, Beach Road, Sea Point (free parking available) Time: 08:00 to 16:00 (meals will be supplied) RSVP: Nadine LefebureTel: 021 483 4626 E-mail: Nadine.Lefebure@pgwc.gov.za by 30 June 2011  >
