It was started in 1906 by men who had left the mission stations in Elim, Genadendal and Mamre, in search of employment in Cape Town.

Life president, Andrew Talliard, has been a member of the club for 51 years.

At the anniversary celebration, tributes will be paid by Deputy Mayor Arnolds, as well as Abel Appel, grandson of one of the founders, Ephraim Appel.
