Rains are still occurring in the Southern Cape and we are monitoring rivers in this area carefully.
The Disaster Management Team is still monitoring the Maersk "Sealand Express" which has been blown ashore at Sunset Beach in Milnerton.
Following yesterday's brief report on the situation in the rest of the Western Cape, we have received an update from District Municipalities.
Boland District Municipality
Roads are still closed due to heavy snow. The Air Force was requested to assist in searching for people who might still be trapped at the Trompsberg pass and the Gydo pass. Last night 5 people were rescued from the Gydo pass and 2 from the Trompsberg pass.
Central Karoo District Municipality
Due to extreme cold conditions there is a possibility of damage to orchards in the Laingsburg and Prince Albert areas.
Overberg District Municipality
The Kleinriver which has been blocked yesterday due to heavy sea currents is busy to stabilise.
West Coast District Municipality
No reports have been received of wind damage or flooding.
Eden District Municipality
No rain or wind damage has been reported. It is however still raining in the area and rivers are being monitored.
