The department offers an information service to internal and external clients, including:

DEMOGRAPHIC, SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC DATA

The department provides demographic, social and economic data of the Western Cape on request. The data is drawn from the Census 1996 Community Profile Databases and various other sources, which include the following data sets:

  • Descriptive.
  • Disability.
  • Dwellings.
  • Education.
  • Family.
  • Fertility.
  • Head of household.
  • Household services.
  • Labour force.
  • Language.
  • Migration.
  • Mortality.
  • Person and services.
  • Welfare.

Provincial Population Statistics in the Western Cape

The following statistics provide the total population for the Western Cape, the City of Cape Town, the district and local municipalities including the district management areas. The statistics are broken down into gender, age and population group tables, which are also available in MS Excel spreadsheets upon request.
